Mud-dauber wasps use mud with things like pollen and carbon to build their nests. By checking the carbon isotopes, scientists can guess how old the nests are. While OSL is helpful, scientists need to think about other stuff too, like if the nests have been exposed to light before. And sometimes, the results don't match exactly with the age of the rock art.
