We didn’t set any New Year’s resolutions, but January still came in swinging. Since our last chinwag in November, we’ve had: A close call with an Irukandji Too many whiskies on an island Some beautiful diving on the outer reef A surprise insurance survey A leak on Haven And the Instagram algorithm giving us the cold shoulder (rude, but we’re working on it)
In true Greener Two fashion, it’s been a mix of dreamy moments, adventure, looking after Haven (aka keeping her in top shape), and being fully absorbed in the business grind.

Christmas at Sea 🎄We spent Christmas in the middle of the ocean, and honestly? It couldn’t have been more perfect. The day was a glass-off (aka the holy grail of calm conditions), with incredible snorkeling and stunning views. The ultimate festive gift from the ocean. We snorkelled, played beach bats, ate ham, caught up with friends on the phone, and even squeezed in some filming for a client project. Hayden, who was meant to stay dry in the tender (filming said client project), got a little too tempted by the perfect conditions and jumped in… without a wetsuit. Right next to an Irukandji. Close call. Lesson learned. Suits on, no butts! From there, we made our way up via the outer and Ribbon reefs for some incredible diving on our way to Lizard Island to ring in the New Year, which brings us to…

Fire Twirling & Whiskey for New Years 🍹We said goodbye to 2024 on an island in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. There was fire twirling, perfect weather, and maybe a few too many whiskies on the rocks (Lily, we’re looking at you). But all round, it was a fun way to kick off the new year. Of course, boat life has a way of calling you back to reality, which leads us to…

The “Fun” of Boat Life: Insurance Surveys & LeaksWe had to (sadly) make our way back to the mainland to sort out a mandatory five-yearly insurance survey. We thought we’d done this two years ago, but apparently, it was a different type of survey. (Although, they look identical.) Good news, though—we passed with flying colours! Haven is officially back in the water, good as gold. However, we just found a leak near the tow rail where the boom brake pulls. It’s not a huge deal, but the rain lately has made it tough to dry out and fix properly. Fingers crossed for some sunshine so we can patch it up and get back out there.

The Perks of Mainland Life 🌧️As much as we love the ocean (and already can’t wait to be back out), being on the mainland has its perks. With The Greener Two busier than ever, it’s been nice to focus on business without worrying about changing conditions, tides, or storms. Just us, our laptops, and a whole lot of coffee. We’ve also been working with a business coach and a mindset coach—and honestly? Life-changing. We originally got them for business, but the shifts have been huge in everything. It’s been incredible to get fresh perspectives, level up our approach, and make sure we’re building this thing in a way that’s actually sustainable.

Rebuilding Instagram: The Algorithm’s Cold ShoulderWe took a break from Instagram for three months, which was so worth it. But coming back? Oof. It’s been a grind. The algorithm has fully ghosted us—it doesn’t know who we are, who wants to see us, or why it should even bother showing our content. So now we’re back to posting daily, reminding it (and everyone else!) that we exist. And yeah, it can be a bit disheartening when you put effort into something, and it barely reaches the other side of the dinner table. But honestly? The break gave us so much clarity and joy that we wouldn’t change a thing. We know this is just part of the process. Every piece of content teaches us something—what works, what doesn’t, and what actually resonates with people. In a way, this reset gives us more freedom to post what we genuinely love, attract the right audience, and not get too caught up in the numbers. Progress might not feel linear, but small steps add up, and one breakthrough moment could shift everything. We’re already moving in the right direction—it just takes patience. So if you see our stuff, liking, commenting, saving, and sharing (especially the last three!) goes a long way in telling the algorithm we’re worth showing. 😉

What’s Next?Once the leak is fixed and the forecast is clear of any low-pressure systems that might pose a cyclone threat, we’ll head back out to sea. Until then, we’ll be here, getting square eyes behind our screens, so that when we do get back out there, we can actually enjoy it—without being glued to our laptops. We didn’t set any resolutions this year, but January has still brought new things for us—fresh perspectives, exciting changes, and a lot to look forward to. It’s funny how those shifts can happen without even planning them, right?
