Who We Are

It’s so nice you’re on this page — thank you! It means a lot that you’d take the time to find out more about us as people, not just what we do as a business. Thank you! :)

Let us share more about who we are, how The Greener Two came to be, what it is now, and where we’re heading.

Our Roots and Inspiration

We were both born and raised in the Whitsundays, surrounded by over 74 tropical islands, saltwater, and small-town energy.

Our families had crossed paths heaps over the years (Lily’s dad even lived with Hayden’s grandad at one point!), and we were part of the same fishing club (but in different years). Totally parallel lives — but we never actually met.

Eventually, we did — at 1am in a nightclub.

That’s when Hayden shared his dream of sailing to remote surf spots through Indonesia and the South Pacific. Lily thought it sounded great. Fast forward a bit, we started dating, and little by little, we began turning that dream into a real plan.

We haven’t made it beyond Australia just yet, but even so, this journey has become something more fulfilling than we ever imagined. Being able to blend the things we love — nature, creating, adventure, travel — and transform that into a life and career is something we are incredibly proud of and grateful for.

The Start of the Sailing Chapter

Before sailing, we spent a few years on a working road trip — living out of Shelly, our 75 Series LandCruiser Troopy — and saving hard.

That's actually when we first started our Instagram account. We didn't do it to grow a brand or build a business, but simply to share cool spots and experiment with photography. It was all about following our passion. We also thought that developing our photography skills would be valuable, no matter what we ended up doing, so it made sense to play around with it. Because, as we'll explain in the next section, owning a business was something we always wanted, but we just weren't sure what it would look like.

Anyway! Eventually we bought our sailboat — Haven — and moved aboard.

We’d both previously spent a lot of time on boats and in the ocean, but sailing was new (as in, we had zero sailing experience). But what we did have was a dream — and the desire to explore untouched wild places (and empty surf breaks!).

The Business Origin Story

We always knew we wanted to build a business — mostly because we wanted something that worked with this lifestyle, not against it. We just didn’t know exactly what it would be.

In the early days, we explored a variety of business ideas. We decided to try YouTube because everyone suggested it, saying that living and traveling on a sailboat was cool and unique at the time. However, creating YouTube videos didn’t really feel like us, and we didn’t enjoy it—though we may consider it again in the future. We also made handmade sea glass jewelry from our beach clean-up efforts, did boat upholstery, and sold digital products on Etsy. Honestly, we gave a lot of things a crack.

But what we kept coming back to was the content creation side — sharing cool experiences, telling stories, and bringing places to life through visuals. Instagram, which had started as a hobby, gradually became something more purposeful.

Even though we have a presence online and began our Instagram with the intention of incorporating it into a future business, we never set out to be “influencers.” Even now, the term doesn’t quite resonate with us. Perhaps it’s because the traditional influencer world just isn’t our lane. But, what we do is create great content, and care deeply about telling stories that connect people to places and experiences.

And out of all the random things we tried, this is the one that just kept making sense. And we don’t think it’s because ‘it worked’ — but because we genuinely loved it.

There is however a strategy behind everything we do now, this certainly hasnt just been luck.

So… What Do We Actually Do?

“We specialise in premium, campaign-ready content for tourism boards, outdoor brands, and experience-driven businesses.

Our work is ideal for region-wide campaigns, multi-stakeholder projects, and destination marketing initiatives that need strategic, high-quality assets — capturing not just what a place looks like, but what it feels like.”

A huge part of The Greener Two is that we don’t just create this kind of content — we live it. From ocean and watersports to the outback, mountains, and snow, we shoot the adventures we’re already immersed in. And we really believe that shows in the output.

Our content has reached hundreds of millions of people directly and organically — and billions when you factor in virality, global reposts, and media reuse. One reel on our own page has hit 28 million views, and a client reel we delivered has surpassed 25 million.

We’ve been featured by LADbible, Beautiful Destinations, UNILAD, 9GAG, and more — and our work has appeared in an internationally distributed book, a short film, and even a TV show.

The Greener Two: Built with Intent

Something that’s always been at the core of The Greener Two — and what we intentionally built our business around — is bridging the gap between content creation and real commercial value.

We saw the challenges between content creators and the businesses trying to work with them.

We knew there was a better way, so with backgrounds in tourism, marketing, and creative industries, we built a model designed to support both sides — combining structure, strategy, and standout visuals that are actually fit for purpose.

That’s why we built The Greener Two as a real creative business — not just as a couple with a drone, a phone and an Instagram handle, but a full-service content team with structure, systems, strategy and intent behind everything we deliver.

So What Did We Do Before This?

Hayden worked as a carpenter on large-scale government projects, and Lily spent several years as a professional dancer. She also holds the Advanced 2 qualification with the Royal Academy of Dance — one of RAD’s highest levels, recognising elite technical proficiency and qualifying for the internationally awarded post-nominal A.R.A.D.

While these careers might seem worlds away from content creation, the skills we developed — hands-on creativity, precision, discipline, dedication, and an eye for detail — still shape how we work today.

After her dance career, Lily moved into the travel industry — working first for a travel wholesaler in New Zealand, before stepping into content and marketing management roles at a national travel agency, progressing to effectively acting as general manager and 2IC to the managing director.

Hayden joined that same team to lead the company’s social media — and not long after, we both stepped away to focus on The Greener Two full-time.

What started as a side project quickly became the most meaningful work we’ve done. Helping brands create content that connects has been creatively fulfilling and professionally rewarding. It’s not just about the visuals. It’s the trust, the purpose, and the impact that makes it so worthwhile.

That’s why our clients say things like: “Your passion and commitment have not gone unnoticed. The quality of your work is exceptional, and I genuinely believe it is some of the best we have ever done.”

Looking Ahead: Future Plans

We’re excited to keep growing — creatively, professionally, and geographically.

We’d love to explore more of the world through both sailing and land-based tourism projects, capturing stories that connect people to nature, culture, and place.

That said, Queensland will always be home — and we’re proud to keep showcasing the wild, beautiful corners of the state and country we grew up in.

Thank you for joining us on this journey.
